Welcome to NBNS!

My name is Patrick M. Tracy. This site is a repository for my original Flash Fiction, as well as that of any writers who would like to submit their work.

NBNS will theoretically follow a bi-weekly posting schedule, but I have a lot of other endeavors to chase around, so don’t be alarmed if I’m sometimes missing for a few weeks.  Then again, if I’m in a hot phase, I might post more frequently.  What I’m trying to say, I suppose, is that you should expect the unexpected.

I’m interested in sharing this space with other writers, both established and aspiring. While it is a small niche in the vast, uncaring sea of the internet, I offer the chance to those who wish to take it. If anyone would like to submit one of their stories for display on this site, please click here for submission guidelines.

The idea here is to tell a full story in only 500 words or so. This structure will act as both a challenge and an inspiration as the days go by. That’s what I’m telling myself now, at any rate. From time to time, I will take the liberty to go above the 500 word limit, but the stories will remain Flash Fiction, with a cap of 1,000 words.

The stories posted here will be in the Horror/Dark Fantasy/Dark Sci-Fi genre, so if you’re intrested in “that sort of thing”, please take a look. Even if you’re not really sure if you like stories of this sort, hey, they’re short! What do you have to lose? A few minutes of your time? Your sanity and very soul? Nothing much, you’ll admit. Come on, give ‘em a try, won’t you? Stories will appear under “Recent Posts” on the sidebar, with the name of the story being the link. The three most recent posts will also be on the page called “New Deviltry”, if you’d rather read them that way. As we go along, you may want access to all the stories on one great page. A Word About Browsers and Resolution: This website is best viewed on Mozilla Firefox. I suggest resolutions of at least 1024 by 768, although it has been designed on systems using 1280 by 1024 resolution. If you are using Internet Explorer 6 or 7, changing the size of the fonts may result in strange anomalies, such as one heading appearing over the top of another. In addition, with the Internet Explorer family of browsers, the comment boxes will not change color to indicate that they are ready to accept input from you. If you click in the boxes and begin to type, your typing will appear. I apologize to any of you who have had difficulties such as the ones outlined above.
